The American coloratura soprano Elizabeth Sutphen graduated from the renowned Julliard School in New York and joined the Opera Studio at Oper Frankfurt in the 2016/17 season, during which she sings Tiny in a new production of Britten's Paul Bunyan, Papagena in Die Zauberflöte, and Romilda in Handel's Xerxes and Die heilige Jungfrau / The Blessed Virgin in Honegger's Jeanne d’Arc au bûcher - both new productions.  She recently sang Bianca (La Rondine) and Najade (Ariadne auf Naxos) at the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, the Queen of the Night with the Albany Symphony and Frasquita (Carmen) and Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier) at the Aspen Opera Theatre. During her days as a student she joined masterclasses held by Joyce DiDonato and Richard Bonynge and sang several roles in studio productions, including La Fée (Cendrillon), Tigrane (Radamisto), Suor Genovieffa (Suor Angelica) and Il Cavaliere Ramiro (La finta giardiniera).
