This season the Canadian mezzo-soprano, and new member of the ensemble, Julia Dawson can be heard singing Goffredo in a new production of Handel's Rinaldo, Angelina in La Cenerentola and 2nd Witch in Dido and Aeneas. Recent roles for the company have included Tebaldo (Don Carlo, while still a member of the Opera Studio), Dorotea (Stiffelio) and, all new productions, Countess Ceprano in Rigoletto and roles in Křenek's Das geheime Königreich / Secret Kingdom and Britten's Paul Bunyan. She also sang Angelina with the Boston Youth Symphony, Erminia (Scarlatti's Erminia, Tandredi, Polidoro e Pastore) Emilia (Catone in Uttica), with Opera Lafayette in Kennedy Center Washington. She has appeared in recital at the Kennedy Centre Washington and Merkin Concert Hall in New York and took part in operas at Opera Philadelphia, Santa Fe Opera and the Glimmerglass Festival. Her repertoire includes Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Dorabella (Così fan tutte), Sesto (La clemenza di Tito), Drusilla / Pallade (L’incoronazione di Poppea) and Ginevra (Ariodante). The many accolades received by Julia Dawson have included success at the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, the »George London Foundation Award« and the »2016 Anny Schlemm Prize«.
