The soprano Irina Simmes is appearing at Oper Frankfurt for the first time. She is a member of the ensemble at Heidelberg Theatre, where she has sung Mozart's Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Countess (Le nozze di Figaro) and Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte) and where she sings the role of Donna Anna in Don Giovanni for the first time. Other highlights have included Laura (Korngold's Der Ring des Polykrates/Polykrate's Ring), Musetta (La Bohème), Ännchen (Der Freischütz), Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus), Micaëla (Carmen) and Violetta (La traviata). Irina Simmes’ repertoire includes baroque rarites (including Pilade in Traetta's Ifigenia in Tauride) and contemporary operatic roles (including Adela in Jost's Rumour and the title role in the world premiere of Harneit's Abends am Fluss/Evenings by the River). In 2017 she made her debut at the Badische Staatstheater in Karlsruhe, where she returns this season, singing Isolde in Avner Dorman's Wahnfried. Irina Simmes studied at the Folkwang University of Arts in Essen.
