Juanita Lascarro's roles during the 2017/18 season in Frankfurt, where she has been a valued member of the ensemble for many years, are Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte and Marchesa Matilda Spina in the first ever performances in Frankfurt of Trojahn's Enrico. This soprano, who was born in Columbia, has sung many roles for the first time in Frankfurt, including the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor, Micaëla (Carmen), Martinů's Julietta and Ninetta (Die diebische Elster/The Thieving Magpie). Other roles for the company, some of them new, in recent seasons have included the soprano role in staged performances of the Messiah, the title roles in Manon, Lulu, Agrippina, and Daphne, Violetta (La Traviata), Donna Clara (Zemlinsky's Der Zwerg/The Dwarf, available on CD - OehmsClassics), Agilea (Handel's Teseo), Ilia (Idomeneo), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni) and Pamina (Die Zauberflöte). Guest engagements have included appearances at the Berlin, Munich and Vienna state operas, Theater Freiburg, Zürich Opera, the Theater an der Wien, Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Opéra National de Paris, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels, the Teatro Real in Madrid, Palma di Mallorca and Bogotá. She has also sung Strauss’ Daphne under Christian Thielemann at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Ingo Metzmacher at the Nationale Opera and Edo de Waart, in concert, in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
