Nina Tarandek, whose recent roles for the company have included Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Giovanna (Rigoletto) and Anna Maria Himmelhuber (Křenek's Schwergewicht/Heavyweight), can be heard this season singing Dorabella in Così fan tutte, Ninetta in Les Vêpres siciliennes and Angelina in La Cenerentola - a role she sang for the first time in Frankfurt a couple of seasons ago. Recent roles in Frankfurt have included Sesto (Giulio Cesare in Egitto), Alisa (Lucia di Lammermoor), Kate (Owen Wingrave), Die dunkle Dame / The Dark Lady (Reimann's Die Gespenstersonate/Ghost Sonata), Antonia (d'Albert's Tiefland), Waltraute (Die Walküre), Aloès (Chabrier's L’Étoile) and, one of her best, Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro). Roles sung by this Croatian mezzo-soprano during earlier seasons included the female lead role in Sciarrino's Luci mie traditrici, which she also sang, in this production, in the first ever performances in Italy at the 2010 Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte in Montepulciano (available on CD and DVD). Guest engagements have included roles at the Semperoper in Dresden, the Theater an der Wien and Volksoper in Vienna, the Teatro Teresa Carreño in Caracas, the St. Margarethen Opera Festival and Operklosterneuburg Festival. Nina Tarandek's recent concert work has included appearances with the hr (Hessen Radio) Symphony Orchestra in Wiesbaden, the Mozarteumorchester Salzburg at the Festival La Semana de Música Religiosa de Cuenca and with the Vienna Philharmonic in China.
