The bass Alfred Reiter has been a member of the Ensemble at Oper Frankfurt since 2008/09. His roles during the 2017/18 season are Herr Zenk in the world premiere of Arnulf Herrmann's Der Mieter/The Tenant - commissioned by Oper Frankfurt, La Roche in a new production of Capriccio, Fasolt in Das Rheingold and Dansker in Billy Budd. Roles in Frankfurt in recent seasons, many of them in new productions, have included Narbal in Les Troyens, Arkel (Pelléas et Mélisande), Trulove (The Rake’s Progress), Graf Waldner (Arabella), Doctor (Wozzeck), Seneca (L’incoronazione di Poppea), Truffaldin (Ariadne auf Naxos), Pope Pius IV / Cardinal Christoph Madruscht (Pfitzner's Palestrina, conducted by Kirill Petrenko – available on CD _ OehmsClassics), Peneios (Daphne), Kalervo (Kullervo) and Raimondo (Rienzi, available on CD - OehmsClassics). He studied in Munich and is in great demand as Sarastro, which he has sung at places including the Bregenz Festival, in Berlin, Munich, Geneva, Vienna, Salzburg, Paris, London, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Tokyo. He has also sung sung Graf Waldner at the Nationale Opera in Amsterdam, Fasolt and Graf Waldner at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the Hermit (Der Freischütz) at the Styriarte in Graz, Grand Théâtre Geneva and Staatsoper Berlin and Gurnemanz (Parsifal) at the Staatstheater in Karlsruhe. He sings Arkel in Pelléas et Mélisande with Welsh National Opera in Hong Kong in the spring of 2018.
