The mezzo-soprano Bianca Andrew comes from New Zealand and joined the Opera Studio at Oper Frankfurt in the 2017/18 season, where she makes her house and German debut as Countess Ceprano in Rigoletto. After studying in New Zealand she went to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London where she sang Handel's Radamisto, Laura (Iolanta) and Philomène (Martinů's Alexandre Bis). She has also sung Meg Page (Falstaff) with the Cambridge Philharmonic and Roméo (I Capuleti i Montecchi) at the Days Bay Opera in Wellington. Bianca Andrew returned to New Zealand Opera, where she began her career as an Emerging Artist, singing roles including Kate Pinkerton (Madame Butterfly), in the summer of 2007 for concert performances of Manon Lescaut. Bianca Andrew won the Song Prize at the 2016 Kathleen Ferrier Awards.
