Louise Alder is one of the leading lyric sopranos of her generation. After receiving the »Young Singer Award« at the 2017 International Opera Awards she went on to win the audience prize at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition. Since joining the ensemble at Oper Frankfurt in 2014/15 she has enjoyed great success with roles, many of them in new productions, including Gilda (Rigoletto), Atalanta (Xerxes), Cleopatra (Giulio Cesare in Egitto), The Vixen (Das schlaue Füchslein/The Cunning Little Vixen), Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier), Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), Gretel and Juliette Vermont (concert performances of Der Graf von Luxemburg). During the 2017/18 season her roles for the company are Despina (role debut) in Così fan tutte, Sophie in Werther and Clorinda in La Cenerentola. Future plans include Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) at Garsington Opera, Sophie in Glyndebourne and her debuts at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich and Teatro Real in Madrid. Recent enagements have included Handel's Semele in the Royal Festival Hall London and Musikverein in Vienna, Marzelline (Fidelio) at the BBC Proms, Zerlina (Don Giovanni) and Lucia (The Rape of Lucretia) for Glyndebourne, Sophie at Welsh National Opera in Cardiff, Ilia (Idomeneo) at Garsington Opera, Eurydice (Rossi's Orpheus) at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, Lucia (The Rape of Lucretia) in Glyndebourne and Monteverdi's Poppea in Bucharest. She has also appeared at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, the London Handel Festival, the Wigmore Hall London and Oxford Lieder Festival. A recording of Richard Strauss Lieder (Orchid Classics) has been released.
