Herbert Murauer has designed the sets for many Christof Loy productions at Oper Frankfurt, including Wozzeck, Die Entführung aus dem Serail, La fanciulla del West, Die Fledermaus, Così fan tutte, La finta semplice, Faust, La clemenza di Tito and Arabella. He and Johannes Erath, for whom he also designed the sets for La traviata at the Hamburg State Opera and Die tote Stadt at Oper Graz, created a wonderful production of Giulio Cesare in Egitto for the company, which was revived in 2016. Other recent productions have included Fedora with Christof Loy in Stockholm, Genoveva at the Nationaltheater in Mannheim, Le nozze di Figaro in Kassel, Lucia di Lammermoor at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf, Un turco in Italia and The Tales of Hoffmann in Hamburg, Cherubini's Medea at the Grand Théâtre in Geneva, Saul and Roberto Devereux at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Carmen in Cologne and Così fan tutte in Stuttgart. He has also worked at other theatres including the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels, in Copenhagen, Covent Garden and the Glyndebourne Festival. He is currently working on a new production of Lucio Silla at Theater Basel, directed by Hans Neuenfels.
