The stage and costume designer Bettina Munzer, who trained at the University of Arts in Berlin, has worked closely with Brigitte Fassbaender since 1991. Their recent productions have included La Bohème at the Landestheater Coburg, Don Pasquale at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich, La Cenerentola in Wiesbaden and La traviata in St. Gallen. Bettina Munzer worked at the Landestheater in Innsbruck from 1999 – 2007, where important productions included a Britten cycle, Tristan und Isolde, many plays and dance productions and three productions she directed herself. Since 2007 Bettina Munzer has been working free-lance: projects have included costume designs for Barbara Frey in Zurich (recent productions: Drei Schwestern/Three Sisters, Der Prozess/The Trial and Richard III) and Idomeneo and Der Freischütz with Nigel Lowery in Gießen. Productions later this season include Faust with Lowery in Bern. She has also worked with Francesca Zambello in the USA, Tel Aviv and Essen, with Phillip Himmelmann in Lucerne, Nürnberg and Hannover and Barbara Beyer in Innsbruck and Meiningen. Bettina Munzer has taught at the University for the Arts in Berlin, the Central School of Speech and Drama in London and the Salzburg Mozarteum.
