Bettina Walter has been working freelance as a costume designer since 1990, at theatres including the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, Grand Théâtre in Geneva, Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, the Aalto-Theater Essen, the Berlin, Munich and Dresden state operas, La Scala Milan, the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels, the Opéra de Lyon and Aix-en-Provence, Salzburg and Glyndebourne festivals. She collaborates regularly with Nikolaus Lehnhoff, Barbara Frey, Philipp Himmelmann, Christof Nel, Christof Loy and Anselm Weber. Productions she has worked on at Oper Frankfurt with the last three mentioned directors were Katja Kabanová, Faust, Tiefland, Simon Boccanegra, Die tote Stadt and Die Passagierin / The (female) Passenger. She has also designed costumes for productions directed by David Hermann and Alexander Schulin and joins forces again with David Bösch later this year for Don Giovanni at the Grand Théâtre in Geneva. Bettina Walter has been a professor for costume design at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart since 2010.
