The Swedish soprano Anna Ryberg is well known to the opera going public in Frankfurt since she joined the ensemble in 2004. Her roles during the 2011/12 season here include Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Fräulein Jouvenot (first ever performances in Frankfurt of Cilea’s Adriana Lecouvreur) and Dorella in concert performances of Wagner’s early work Das Liebesverbot/The Ban on Love - both role debuts. She has performed many Mozart roles in Frankfurt, including Zerlina, Susanna and Barbarina (Le nozze di Figaro), Servilia (La clemenza di Tito), Arminda (Die Gärtnerin aus Liebe / La finta giardiniera) and Papagena. Other roles in recent seasons have included Poppea (Agrippina), Musetta (La Bohème), Oscar (Verdi’s Ein Maskenball/Un ballo in maschera), Contessa Folleville (Il viaggio a Reims), Jano (Jenufa), Sophie (Werther), Marzelline (Fidelio), Clorinda (Rossini’s Cenerentola) and Drusilla/Virtù (L’incoronazione di Poppea). Recent guest engagements have included Pamina in Aix-en-Provence, Countess Almaviva at Opera Rouen, Susanna/Barbarina in Manchester, London, Limoges, Jersey, Leeds and Amsterdam, Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi) in Luxemburg, Mimì (La Bohème) in Manchester and the title role in Handel’s Semele in Sydney. Concert engagements have included appearances at the Royal Albert Hall in London. She is the winner of many awards and studied in Sydney and at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.
