Swedish soprano Anna Ryberg has been a much loved member of the ensemble at Oper Frankfurt since 2004. She has sung many Mozart protagonists for the company: Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Susanna and Barbarina (Le nozze di Figaro), Servilia (La clemenza di Tito), Arminda (La finta giardiniera) and Papagena (Die Zauberflöte). Other roles here with which she has enjoyed great success have included Poppea (Agrippina), Musetta (La Bohème), Oscar (Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera), Contessa Folleville (Il viaggio a Reims), Jano (Jenufa), Sophie (Werther), Marzelline (Fidelio), Clorinda (Rossini’s Cenerentola) and Drusilla/Virtù (L’incoronazione di Poppea. Anna Ryberg added a new role to her repertoire in 2011/12: Dorella in Wagner’s Das Liebesverbot/The Ban on Love (concert performances in the Alte Oper: CD/OehmsClassics due for release soon) and took part in a chamber concert of songs by Igor Stravinsky. New roles in the 2012/13 season include Clizia in Frankfurt’s new production of Handel’s Teseo (Bockenheimer Depot) and Prinzessin Laoula in a revival of L’Étoile. She will also be repeating her wonderful interpretation of Susanna. Guest engagements have included Pamina in Aix-en-Provence, Countess Almaviva at the Opéra de Rouen, Susanna/Barbarina in Manchester, London, Limoges, Jersey, Leeds and Amsterdam, Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi) in Luxemburg, Mimì (La Bohème) in Manchester and the title role in Handel’s Semele in Sydney. A winner of many awards and prizes, she trained in Sydney and at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.
