Swedish soprano Anna Ryberg has been a great favourite with our audiences since she joined the ensemble at Oper Frankfurt in 2004. Roles here during the 2013/14 season were the 1st Maid in Strauss' Daphne and Piccolo / Child Genius / Scholar in Die Ausflüge des Herrn Brouček/The Adventures of Mr Brouček. In recent seasons she has enjoyed great success with roles by Mozart and other composers, including Poppea (Agrippina), Princess Laoula (Chabrier's L’Étoile), Musetta (La Bohème), Oscar (Ein Maskenball/Un ballo in maschera), Jano (Jenufa), Sophie (Werther), Marzelline (Fidelio), Clorinda (La Cenerentola), Dorella in Wagner's early opera Das Liebesverbot/The Ban on Love (in concert at the Alte Oper, available on CD/OhemsClassics) and Clizia (Handel's Teseo). This season she enjoyed great success with Drusilla in a new production of Monteverdi's Lʼinocoronazione di Poppea in the Bockenheimer Depot and Katja in the first ever performances in Frankfurt of Mieczysław Weinberg's Die Passagierin/The (female) Passenger. These will be followed by Armande in the third of three one act operas by Bohuslav Martinů, which have never been performed in Frankfurt before. Recent guest engagements have included Pamina in Aix-en-Provence, The Countess in Le nozze di Figaro at the Opéra de Rouen, in London, Manchester, Limoges, Jersey, Leeds and Amsterdam and the title role in Handel's Semele in Sydney. Anna Ryberg studied in Sydney and at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and has won many prizes and awards.
