Claudia Mahnke will be making her debut at the Bayreuth Festival in the summer of 2013. Roles in Frankfurt this season are Waltraute/2nd Norn in Götterdämmerung, Blanche in a new production of Prokofiev’s Der Spieler/The Gambler and Adriano in concert performances of Rienzi. This mezzo-soprano has been a member of the ensemble at Oper Frankfurt since 2006, since when roles with which she has thrilled audiences and critics have included Judith (Herzog Blaubarts Burg/Bluebeard’s Castle), Brangäne (Tristan und Isolde), Marguerite (Fausts Verdammnis/The Damnation of Faust), Emilia (Otello), Giulietta (Hoffmanns Erzählungen/The Tales of Hoffmann), Charlotte (Werther), Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), Lucretia (The Rape of Lucretia), Concepción (Ravel’s Die spanische Stunde/L’Heure espagnole), the title role in Hartmann’s Simplicius Simplicissimus and Giovanna Seymour in concert performances of Anna Bolena. Before moving to Frankfurt Claudia Mahnke was a member of the ensemble in Stuttgart, where she received nominations for „Singer of the World“ in „Opernwelt“ magazine for her interpretation of Simplicius Simplicissimus. She became one of the Stuttgart State Opera’s Kammersängerinnen in 2006. Recent guest engagements have included Brangäne at the Ruhrtriennale, I Puritani and Palestrina at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Octavian in Essen and Cologne, Dorabella (Così fan tutte )in Lyon, Dorabella, Cherubino, Zerlina (Don Giovanni) and the Composer in Ariadne auf Naxos in San Francisco, Cherubino with the Deutsche Oper Berlin in Seoul, Das Lied von der Erde with the NHK Symphony Orchestra and Brangäne in Tokyo and Adriano in Rienzi at the Teatro Real de Madrid.
