Juanita Lascarro
Soprano
Juanita Lascarro, a member of the Ensemble at Oper Frankfurt since 2002, has drawn international attention to herself for her interpretation of roles central to her repertoire (including Manon, Lulu, Agrippina, Violetta and Daphne). During the 2011/12 season her roles here include Princess Laoula in a new production of Chabrier’s L’Étoile, a role with which she enjoyed great success when she made her house debut at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin in 2009/10, conducted by Sir Simon Rattle. She will also be singing Fiordiligi, Donna Elvira and Pamina again. Role debuts in recent seasons in Frankfurt have included Farzana in Wagner’s Die Feen (in concert at the Alte Oper) and the Countess in Le nozze di Figaro. Other important roles for the company have included Mozart’s Zerlina and Susanna, Puccini’s Lauretta, Suor Angelica (Il trittico) and Musetta, Strauss’ Zdenka (Arabella), Zemlinsky’s Donna Clara (Der Zwerg/The Dwarf) and Janáček’s Málinka / Etherea / Kunka (The Adventures of Mr Brouček). This soprano from Columbia received wonderful reviews for guest engagements, which have included Poppea (new production of L’incoronazione di Poppea) at the Theater an der Wien in 2009/10, Zerlina in Barcelona, Susanna at the Opéra Bastille in Paris, Poppea in Zürich and Juliette (Roméo et Juliette) at the state operas in Vienna and Munich. She recently sang the title role in Strauss’ Daphne in Frankfurt, a role she has also performed under the batons of Christian Thielemann and Ingo Metzmacher. Her recordings include Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Alcina and Der Zwerg/The Dwarf. Her latest CD is called "Amor Oriental - Händel alla turca."
