During the 2012/13 season Juanita Lascarro’s roles in new productions in Frankfurt are Ilia in Idomeneo and Agilea in Handel’s Teseo. She will also be sing the Countess again in a revival of Die Hochzeit des Figaro/Le nozze di Figaro. This soprano, who is from Columbia, joined the ensemble at Oper Frankfurt in 2002, since when the roles with which she has thrilled audiences have included Manon, Lulu, Agrippina, Violetta, Daphne, Donna Clara (Zemlinsky’s Der Zwerg/The Dwarf) and Janáček’s). Guest engagements in recent seasons have included Marguerite in Gounod’s Faust at Opera North in 2012, Princess Laoula in Chabrier’s L’Étoile at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin, Poppea (new production of L’incoronazione di Poppea 2009/10) at the Theater an der Wien, where she returned in 2012 for Antonia in The Tales of Hoffmann, Zerlina (Don Giovanni) at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro) at the Opéra Bastille in Paris, Poppea at Zurich Opera and Juliette (Roméo et Juliette) at the Vienna and Bavarian state operas. She has sung the title role in Strauss’ Daphne in Frankfurt and under the batons of Christian Thielemann and Ingo Metzmacher. Her recordings include Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Alcina and Der Zwerg/The Dwarf. Her latest releases are Amor Oriental – Händel alla turca and Wagner’s first opera, Die Feen/The Fairies, recorded in Frankfurt (OehmsClassics - also on sale in the opera house).
