Margit Neubauer joined Oper Frankfurt in 1977. The title of Kammersängerin was bestowed upon her in 1993. Over the years she built up a broad and varied repertoire which included the roles of Sesto (Giulio Cesare), Cherubino (Die Hochzeit des Figaro/Le nozze di Figaro), Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel), Dalila (Samson and Dalila), Idamante (Idomeneo) and Carmen. She also took part in the world premiere of John Cage's Europeras 1 & 2. Her most recent roles for the company have included La badessa (Suor Angelica), Háta (Die verkaufte Braut/The Bartered Bride), Marthe (Gounod's Faust), the village judge's wife in Janáček's Jenufa and the Russian Governess in Britten's Death in Venice - all new productions. She has also taken part in events as part of the annual Frankfurt liest ein Buch/Frankfurt reads a book series. During the 2014/15 season she sings Anhilte in concert performances of Emmerich Kálmán's Die Csárdásfürstin and the Chief Warder in the first ever performances in Frankfurt of Mieczysław Weinberg's Die Passagierin/The (female) Passenger. Places where Margit Neubauer has appeared as a guest have included the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Hamburg State Opera, Zurich Opera, in Amsterdam, Jerusalem, Los Angeles, where she sang Cherubino (), Brigitta in Korngold's Die tote Stadt/The Dead City and the title role in Antonio Bibalo's Fräulein Julie and the Bayreuth and Salzburg festivals. Margit Neubauer has worked with many of the world's leading directors and conductors and made a name for herself as a concert and oratorio singer.
