Florian Plock
Florian Plock won 1st Prize at the German National Singing Competition in Berlin in 2002 and has been a member of the ensemble at Oper Frankfurt since 2004, since when he has given many performances of Mozart’s Figaro and Papageno, and enjoyed great success singing Leporello for the first time. Other roles in recent seasons have included Colline (La Bohème), Angelotti (Tosca), Don Estoban (Der Zwerg/The Dwarf), the Captain in Hartmann’s Simplicius Simplicissimus, the King in Ariodante, Wagner (Gounod’s Faust) and Alidoro (Rossini’s Cenerentola). Florian Plock rounded the 2010/11 season off as Judas in a new production of Aulis Sallinen’s Barabbas Dialoge and during 2011/12 will appear in new productions of Cavalli’s La Calisto and Cilea’s Adriana Lecouvreur as well as revivals of La Traviata, Arabella, Lear and Volo di notte. He is also a regular guest in Berlin: he sang Masetto, during several seasons, in Konwitschny’s production of Don Giovanni and Colline at the Komische Oper, and Tom in Un ballo in maschera at the Deutsche Oper. In the summers of 2010 and 2011 he appeared in new productions of Britten’s Albert Herring (directed by Keith Warner) and Ariadne auf Naxos (Turffaldino, directed by Tilman Knabe) at the Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte in Montepulciano which was founded by Hans Werner Henze.
