Oper Frankfurt

Hans-Jürgen Lazar

Tenor

Hans-Jürgen Lazar
Hans-Jürgen Lazar will, once, again, be performing in many operas during Oper Frankfurt’s 2011/12 season, including new productions of Chabrier’s L’Étoile and Janáček’s Die Sache Makropulos/The Makropoulos Case and roles, with which has enjoyed great success in the past, in revivals of Die tote Stadt (Count Albert), Die Fledermaus (Dr. Blind), Reimann’s Lear (Duke of Kent), Die Zauberflöte (Monostatos) and Das Rheingold (Mime). This tenor joined the ensemble in Frankfurt in 1991, returning in 1996 after being a member of the ensembles in Hagen und Essen. His most memorable roles in Frankfurt in recent seasons have included Red Whiskers (Billy Budd), Graf von Lerma / A Herald (Don Carlo), Theophilus (Palestrina), Gouverneur (Hartmann’s Simplicius Simplicissimus), Bomelius (Die Zarenbraut/The Tsar’s Bride), Ägisth (Elektra), Mucius (world premiere of Glanert’s Caligula) and Torquemada (Die spanische Stunde/L’Heure espagnole). Guest engagements have taken him to many opera houses, including those in Hamburg, the Bayreuth Festival (debut as Eisslinger in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg), Salzburg, Vienna, Bologna, Barcelona (Père Lilaque in Boulevard Solitude), Catania, Triest and Paris.
