During the 2014/15 season Johannes Martin Kränzle, »2011 Singer of the Year« (Opernwelt), sang Amfortas (Parsifal), Paolo Albiani (Simon Boccanegra) and Don Giovanni in Frankfurt, Beckmesser (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg) at the Metropolitan Opera New York, A Music Teacher (Ariadne auf Naxos) at Zurich Opera and Bartok's Bluebeard at the Staatstheater in Wiesbaden. This internationally sought after baritone, a member of the ensemble at Oper Frankfurt for many years, with more than 100 roles in his repertoire, appears regularly at many of the world's leading opera houses and festivals, including those in Lucerne, Salzburg, Glyndebourne and the BBC Proms in London. He has one many prizes at international competitions, including the Vercelli, Rio de Janeiro, Perpignan and Paris (Plácido Domingo). His opera Der Wurm/The Worm won a prize at a composition competition in Berlin, where it was performed. Johannes Martin Kränzle has taught singing for many years (guest professorships at the Hochschule for Music and Dance in Cologne and the Brasilian University in Rio Grande do Norte, Natal). His latest CD Grenzen der Menschheit/Limits of Mankind, with Lieder by Franz Schubert and Robert Schumann, accompanied by the pianist Hilko Dumno, was released recently on Challenge Record International. Johannes Martin Kränzle's discography includes recordings of productions of Reimann's Lear (Gloucester), Pfitzner's Palestrina (Morone) and Götterdämmerung (Gunther) at Oper Frankfurt (OehmsClassics).
