Baritone
Dietrich Volle has an extensive programme during Oper Frankfurt’s 2011/12 season: the new production of Schoeck’s Penthesilea will be followed by new productions of Janáček’s Die Sache Makropulos/The Makropoulos Case and revivals of Tosca, La Traviata (Barone Douphol), Arabella (Graf Dominik), Ariane et Barbe-Bleue (Barbe-Bleue/Bluebeard),Das Rheingold (Donner) and Volo di notte/Night Flight/lI Prigioniero/The Prisoner (Leroux/Sacerdote). Since this baritone joined the ensemble at Oper Frankfurt he has taken part in several operas that had never been performed in Frankfurt before, including Roy Cohn in Eötvös’ Angels in America and Spencer Coyle in Britten’s Owen Wingrave in the Bockenheimer Depot. Other roles, in the main house, have included Bartolo (Le nozze di Figaro), Melot (Tristan und Isolde), Banquo (Bloch’s Macbeth), Capulet (Roméo et Juliette), Don Prudenzio (Die Reise nach Reims/Il viaggio a Reims), the Bishop of Cadiz (Pfitzner’s Palestrina), the Duke of Albany (Reimann’s Lear) and Merea / Lepidus in the world premiere of Glanert’s Caligula. Before he joined the company in Frankfurt Dietrich Volle was closely linked to the opera houses in Aachen, Karlsruhe and Wiesbaden and was a free-lance artist for many years. In 2010/11 he took part in the world premiere of Michael Obst’s Die andere Seite/The Other Side at the Mainfrankentheater in Würzburg.
