Brenda Rae
Soprano
Brenda Rae, who was awarded 1st Prize by the Licia Albanese Puccini Foundation in 2007, has been a member of the Ensemble at Oper Frankfurt since 2008/09, since when this American soprano has thrilled audiences with the title roles in Lucia di Lammermoor and de Almeida’s La Giuditta (first ever staged performances of this work), as Angelica (Orlando furioso), The Governess (The Turn of the Screw), Oscar (Un ballo in maschera), Musetta (La Bohème), Olympia (Hoffmanns Erzählungen/The Tales of Hoffmann), Mozart’s Sandrina (Die Gärtnerin aus Liebe/La finta giardiniera), Servilia and Pamina. After giving unanimously acclaimed role debuts last season as Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail and Lora in Wagner’s early opera Die Feen/The Fairies (in concert at the Alte Oper), and making her debut in Bordeaux (Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos) and Glyndebourne and at the Proms in London (Handel’s Rinaldo), she expanded her repertoire in Frankfurt during 2011/12 with her first, very successful, performances of Violetta in La Traviata and will make another role debut with Ann Trulove in a new production of The Rake's Progress - she will also be repeating her memorable performances of Olympia and Pamina. In 2012 she will make her debut at the Bayerische State Opera in Munich, singing Konstanze. She has given recitals in Alice Tully Hall and the Carnegie Hall. She trained at the Juilliard School, Juilliard Opera Center in New York and took part in the Young American Artists Programme at Glimmerglass Opera.
