Alfred Reiter
Alfred Reiter’s roles in new productions this season at Oper Frankfurt, where he has been a member of the ensemble since the 2008/09, are Arkel in Pelléas et Mélisande and Ashby in La Fanciulla del West. His other commitments here during 2012/13 include Raimondo in concert performances of Rienzi and Fasolt (Das Rheingold, OehmsClassics CD available). Guest engagements in future seasons include Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte at the 2013 Bregenz Festival and Count Waldner in Arabella (role debut in Frankfurt 2008/09) in Barcelona in 2014. Guest engagements in 2012 included Ochs in a new production of Der Rosenkavalier in Geneva, where he has also been engaged for Fasolt. Born in Augsburg and trained in Munich, this bass has worked at many international opera houses with conductors including Daniel Barenboim (world premiere of Jens Joneleit’s Metanoia in Berlin), Giuseppe Sinopoli, Sir Simon Rattle, Donald Runnicles, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Philippe Herreweghe, Christoph Eschenbach, Christoph von Dohnányi, Michael Gielen, Ingo Metzmacher and Christan Thielemann. He has sung Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte and King Marke in Tristan und Isolde all over the world, including Frankfurt, Berlin, Cologne, Munich, Geneva, Vienna, Salzburg, Paris, London, Cardiff, Los Angeles and Tokyo. Interesting role debuts at Oper Frankfurt have included Pope Pius IV. / Cardinal Christoph Madruscht (Palestrina), Peneios in Strauss’ Daphne, Kalervo in Sallinen’s Kullervo and Crespel in Hoffmanns Erzählungen/The Tales of Hoffmann.
