After three seasons Oper Frankfurt's Opera Studio has become firmly established as a vital project in actively supporting and furthering young singers and helping them make the all important step of performing on the operatic stage, possibly for the first time. Last season Sun Hyung Cho sang the female main roles in a double bill of two verismo one act operas L’Oracolo and Le Villi, Simon Bode sang Belmonte in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Nina Tarandek, Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro and Eun-Hye Shin, Flora in The Turn of the Screw. The incredible achievements of our Ensemble member Paula Murrihy should also be mentioned here: in the autumn of 2010 she won the Anny Schlemm prize and sang her way into the hearts of the public in Frankfurt with her performances of Dido in Dido and Aeneas – she made her first performances on stage in Frankfurt whilst still a member of the Studio.
Sun Hyung Cho, Eun-Hye Shin and Nina Tarandek left the Opera Studio after two years. Both of the Korean sopranos will be returning to the house in February 2012 as Mélisande and Bellangère in Ariane et Barbe-Bleu. Toby Girling has also left so this means that four new singers join the studio this season.

They can be all be heard in their own series of concerts - »Opera Studio Soirées« - in the foyer. Take time and join us in following the members of the Opera Studio as they progress.
