Oper Frankfurt’s aim when the Opera Studio opened in 2008/09 was to help young singers embarking on a career in singing by actively supporting them, providing professional teachers to help them hone their skills and, possibly, building a long term relationship with some of these highly qualified young artists. This vital project has already borne fruit: Simon Bode joins the ensemble this season after two years in the studio, during which time his roles for the company included Belmonte in Die Entführung aus dem Serail and Tamino in Die Zauberflöte. Sharon Carty was also a member of the studio for two years: she returns this season to repeat her wonderful portrayal of man-eating Aloès in the revival of L’Étoile. Kihwan Sim joins the ensemble after a year in the studio. This season his roles include Figaro, the role with which he made his professional debut in Germany two years ago. We are also delighted that the mezzo-soprano Nina Tarandek has returned to Frankfurt to join the ensemble. Forthcoming roles include Cherubino (which she also sang while a member of the studio) in Le nozze di Figaro. Three new singers join the studio this season, including the soprano Kateryna Kasper, who made her debut for the company last season singing the Forest Bird in the new production of Siegfried. The singers take part in regular masterclasses held by internationally renowned artists and are cast in small, and sometimes not so small roles in productions. All the singers have said that they learn most from taking part in performances.

We invite you to follow the artistic development of this artists on stage and in their own series of concerts - »Opera Studio Soirées« - in the Holz Foyer.
