Katharina Magiera
Katharina Magiera's roles during Oper Frankfurt's 2013/14 season are Ježibaba in Rusalka, Dryade in Ariadne auf Naxos and the Sphinx in Oedipe (all new productions), Bradamante in Orlando furioso and Rosalia in d'Albert's Tiefland. She appeared regularly as a guest here and spent a year in the Opera Studio before joining the ensemble at Oper Frankfurt, where roles have included Alisa (Lucia di Lammermoor), Tisbe (La Cenerentola), 3rd Lady (Die Zauberflöte), Unto's Wife (Sallinen's Kullervo), Stable Girl (Königskinder), Cornelia (Giulio Cesare in Egitto), High Priestess in Hans Neuenfels' production of Schoeck's Penthesilea, Marzelline (Die Hochzeit des Figaro/Le nozze di Figaro) and Flosshilde and Schwertleite (Der Ring des Nibelungen - available on CD and DVD). Katharina Magiera was taught by Hedwig Fassbender in Frankfurt and has taken part in masterclasses held by Christoph Prégardien, Ingeborg Danz and Rudolf Piernay, with whom she furthered her studies. She received scholarships from Rheinland-Pfalz' „Villa Musica“, the Foundation of the German People, the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation „Live music now“ and won the 2009 Mendelssohn Competition. She sang Schwertleite in David McVicar's production of Die Walküre in Strasbourg and is much sought after for concert and recital work.
