Julian Prégardien

Frankfurt born Julian Prégardien joined the Ensemble at Oper Frankfurt in 2009/10, since when he has taken part in new productions of Korngold’s Die tote Stadt, Britten’s Owen Wingrave de Almeida’s La Giuditta and, last season, Jason in a new production of Charpentier’s Médée and Tamino (both role debuts). Roles here during 2011/12 include – alongside a joint recital with his father Christoph Prégardien at Oper Frankfurt – Pontio Pilato in Wagner’s early opera Das Liebesverbot/The Ban on Love (in concert at the Alten Oper), Nathanaël/Spalanzani/Franz/Pitichinaccio in Hoffmanns Erzählungen/The Tales of Hoffmann and roles in new productions of Chabrier’s L’Étoile and Cilea’s Adriana Lecouvreur. In the summer of 2012 he will return to the Aix en Provence Festival for Belfiore in Mozart’s La finta giardiniera. He toured with the Festival d’Aix en Provence and Haydn’s L'infedeltà delusa, which was performed in many cities, including Monte Carlo, the Opéra de Lille and the Teatro Calderón de Bilbao. He has also performed at the Theater an der Wien in Vienna and the Prinzregententheater in Munich. Concert engagements take him on a regular basis to important concert halls and festivals and he has enjoyed great success in chamber music with several groups of musicians.
