Sebastian Geyer has been a member of Oper Frankfurt’s Ensemble since the 2010/11 season, during which he sang Count Almaviva, Papageno, Purcell’s Aeneas and Oronte in Charpentier’s Médée (both new productions). During 2011/12 his roles include Dr. Falke in Die Fledermaus. This baritone was born in Ulm, studied with Rudolf Piernay and Claudia Eder and has enjoyed great success at many competitions, including awards from the 2002 and 2003 International Singing Competition at the Kammeroper in Schloss Rheinsberg. In 2003/04 he joined the Stadttheater in Gießen before moving to the Theater in Heidelberg in 2006/07, where his roles included the title roles in Eugen Onegin and Don Giovanni and Count Almaviva. He was nominated as »Singer of the Year« by Opernwelt magazine in 2006 for his portrayal of Don Giovanni. Guest engagements have included appearances at the Stuttgart State Opera, the Staatstheater in Wiesbaden and the Nationaltheater in Mannheim. Sebastian Geyer also enjoyed great success with the title roles in Vivaldi’s Montezuma and Tito Manlio in the Rococo Theatre at Schloss Schwetzingen. He is also much in demand for concert work and orchestras with whom he has appeared include the hr-Sinfonieorchester, the Barock-Ensemble La Stagione Frankfurt, the Münchner Sinfonikern and WDR Rundfunkorchester Cologne. His repertoire includes oratorios and cantatas by Johann Sebastian Bach, Mendelssohn’s Elijah and Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem/A German Requiem.
