This season Nina Tarandek's roles at Oper Frankfurt are Cherubino in Die Hochzeit des Figaro/Le nozze di Figaro, Tebaldo in Don Carlo, Alisa in Lucia di Lammermoor, Sesto in Giulio Cesare in Egitto and the Dackel / Dog Das schlaue Füchslein/The Cunning Little Vixen and Ilona in the world premiere of Michael Langemenn's Anna Toll - both new productions. This Croatian mezzo-soprano joined the ensemble at Oper Frankfurt in 2012/13. Last season she enjoyed great success singing a Siren in the 2014 world premiere of Rolf Riehm's Sirenen/Sirens, Kate (Owen Wingrave), was triumphant in the title role (role debut) in Rossini's La Cenerentola, and roles in the first ever performances in Frankfurt of Bohuslav Martinů's Julietta. Nina Tarandek's roles for the company in recent seasons have included Die dunkle Dame /The Dark Woman (Reimann's Die Gespenstersonate/Ghost Sonata), Antonia (d'Albert's Tiefland), Waltraute (Die Walküre) and Aloès (Chabrier's L’Étoile). She also sang the lead female role in Sciarrino's Luci mie traditrici in the Bockenheimer Depot, a co-production with the 2010 Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte Montepulciano, where the first ever performances in Italy took place (available on CD & DVD). Guest engagements have included performances at the Semperoper in Dresden, the Theater an der Wien, the Volksoper in Vienna and Teatro Teresa Carreño in Caracas. She has taken part in the traditional New Year's concert at the Kurhaus in Wiesbaden with the hr-Sinfonieorchester and given concerts in China with the Vienna Philharmonic. She has enjoyed success at many competitions, including winning 1st prize at the »Fidelio Competition« in Vienna.
