Nina Tarandek, a former member of our Opera Studio, joined the ensemble at Oper Frankfurt at the beginning of the 2012/13 season, during which she sang Aloès (L’Étoile), Waltraute (Die Walküre), Anna in concert performances of Maria Stuarda, Cherubino (Die Hochzeit des Figaro/Le nozze di Figaro) and Tebaldo (Don Carlo). Roles for the company during the 2013/14 season include Die dunkle Dame/The Dark Lady in a new production of Die Gespenstersonate/The Ghost Sonata and Antonia in a revival of Tiefland. Recent engagements have included her debuts at the Semper Opera in Dresden (Aeneas in Dido and Aeneas in 2012), the 2011 Klosterneuburg/Wien Festival (Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro) and Mercédès in Carmen at the 2012 St. Margarethe Summer Festival. She made her debut at Oper Frankfurt in 2009/10, singing Alisa in Lucia di Lammermoor. This was followed by the Second Maid in a new production of Daphne (which was awarded a 2010 FAUST Theatre Prize), concert performances of La Rondine in the Alte Oper, Cherubino, 2nd Lady (Die Zauberflöte) and the lead female role in Salvatore Sciarrino’s Luci mie traditrici in the Bockenheimer Depot – a role with which she enjoyed enormous success when the work was performed in Italy for the first time at the 2010 Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte in Montepulciano (CD available/Stradivarius, DVD EuroArts-co-production with Oper Frankfurt). Other recent engagements have included the traditional New Year’s concert at the Kurhaus in Wiesbaden in 2011 with the hr-Sinfonieorchester, performances at the Theater an der Wien, Vienna Volksoper and the Theatro Teresa Carreno in Caracas. Prizes she has won include First Prize at the 2006 Fidelio Competition in Vienna.
