Simon Bode
Tenor
Simon Bode, who has just left Oper Frankfurt’s Opera Studio, joins the ensemble here in the 2012/13 season. He has already sung roles in many new productions and revivals for the company, including Servo in Sciarrino’s Luci mie traditrici (CD and DVD available, co-production with the Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte di Montepulciano, where he took part in the first performances of the work in Italy in 2010), his first Belmonte in a revival of Christof Loy’s production of Die Entführung aus dem Serail and Tamino. After making his debut at the Norwegian National Opera in Oslo as Fernando in Haydn’s L’isola disabitata this August he returns to Frankfurt for new roles in Die sizilianische Vesper and Adriana Lecouvreur. Son of a Korean mother and German father he studied with Prof. Charlotte Lehmann in Hannover and soon began winning prizes, including the renowned „Hans Sikorski Gedächtnispreis“ from the Deutschen Stiftung Musikleben. He has appeared at the Schleswig Holstein Musikfestival, Mecklenburg Vorpommern Festival, the Staatsoper in Hannover, Staatstheater in Braunschweig and has often been heard on radio. In 2012 he made his debut with the NDR in Hamburg and in April of the same year he took part in a tour in France of Bach’s St. Matthew Passion with 'Les Talens Lyriques'. Simon Bode and his pianist Nicholas Rimmer won 2nd Prize at the 2009 International Schubert Competition in Dortmund. His debut CD, Brahms Lieder recorded with Graham Johnson, was released by Hyperion Records in 2011. He can also be heard on recordings of Wagner’s Die Feen/The Fairies and Das Liebesverbot/The Ban on Love - both conducted by Sebastian Weigle – which will be released in the not too distant future by OehmsClassics – in cooperation with Oper Frankfurt.
