Terje Stensvold

Terje Stensvold is one of the world’s most sought after Wotans, a role he sings during the 2012/13 season under Daniel Barenboim at the Berlin State Opera and La Scala Milan. Other places where he has sung the role have included Stockholm, Helsinki, Dresden, Leipzig, Vienna (State Opera) and Berlin (Deutsche Oper, and concert performances of Die Walküre with the Berlin Philharmonic under Sir Simon Rattle). He also sang the role in Siegfried at the Bavarian State Opera and the Proms in London. He has been engaged for a new Ring in Melbourne, which opens in late 2013. This Norwegian baritone has been a regular guest at Oper Frankfurt since 2000, where he made his debut in Der fliegende Holländer/The Flying Dutchman. He will be appearing in productions of this opera in Zurich and Amsterdam in 2012/13. Roles in Frankfurt in the past were Jochanaan (Salome), Balstrode (Peter Grimes), Alfio and Tonio (Cavalleria rusticana / I Pagliacci), Dr. Schön and Jack the Ripper (Lulu), Don Pizarro (Fidelio) and Barak (Die Frau ohne Schatten). He has been a mainstay at the Den Norske Opera in Oslo for many years, where he has sung more than 80 roles. He was made a 1st Knight of the Royal Order of St. Olaf by the King of Norway in 2008.
