Karsten Januschke
Conductor & Coach
During the 2012/13 season Karsten Januschke, who has worked as a soloists’ coach at Oper Frankfurt since 2008/09, conducts some performances of Idomeneo (new production), L’Étoile, La Traviata, Die Fledermaus and Don Carlo. He made his debut with the Frankfurter Opern- und Museumsorchester (Oper Frankfurt’s orchestra) in 2009/10 with Telemann’s Pimpinone and a concert performance of Die kleine Meerjungfrau/The Little Mermaid. This was followed by performances of operas including Die Zauberflöte, Kullervo and Così fan tutte, The Nutcracker in a christmas concert and, in 2012 Tilimbom, an evening of staged works by Stravinsky in the Bockenheimer Depot. Other orchestras he has conducted have included the Slovanian Philharmonic. He also enjoys a close relationship with Frankfurt Chamber Brass. Karsten Januschke worked at the Vienna State Opera from 2004-2008, where he conducted operas for children and coached singers including Rolando Villazón, Marlis Petersen and Hanno Müller-Brachmann. Conductors he has assisted at opera houses and festivals have included Kirill Petrenko, Bertrand de Billy, Christian Thielemann and Seiji Ozawa.
