Felice Venanzoni

Conductor & Chief of Coaching

Felice Venanzoni
Felice Venanzoni has worked at Oper Frankfurt since 1999, where he coached before becoming chief of the coaching department in 2002. Since the 2004/05 season he has conducted a Monteverdi cycle: (L’Orfeo, Combattimenti and Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria), and Francisco António de Almeida’s La Giuditta (first ever staged performances) in the Bockenheimer Depot, and L’incoronazione di Poppea, Handel’s Agrippina and Ariodante in the main house. In Oper Frankfurt’s 2010/11 season he conducted the first revival of Vivaldi’s Orlando furioso, which was new in the 2009/2010 season. He is much sought after by other opera companies and in recent seasons has worked on several productions, including two productions directed by Claus Guth: (Don Giovanni) at the 2008 Salzburg Festival and as continuo player and music assistant to Bertrand de Billy in Vienna in 2009 (later on in Nancy too) and assisted Jean-Christophe Spinosi on staged performances of Handel’s Messiah. In the 2007/08 season he conducted Rossini’s La scala di seta in Potsdam. He has worked all over Europe as a soloist and chamber musician and several concerts were broadcast on radio and television. He is also much in demand as an accompanist - singers with whom he has given recitals include José Carreras and Renato Bruson – and was engaged by the theatres in Como, Brescia, Bergamo, Pavia, Novara, Salerno and the Associazione Lirica Concertistica (As.Li.Co) in Milan. Felice Venanzoni was invited to Japan to pass on the experience he has gathered as a specialist in Italian opera to the Kansai Oper in Osaka.
