Martin Wölfel
Martin Wölfel, a regular guest at Oper Frankfurt, has sung Prince Orlofsky / Frosch in this production of Die Fledermaus since it first opened in 2010. He will be coming back in May to repeat his wonderful Sorceress in Dido and Aeneas. Other roles here were Helicon in the world premiere of Glanert’s Caligula (co-production with Cologne Opera), Delfa in Cavalli’s Giasone and Edgar in Reimann’s Lear (CD available in the foyer), a role he also sang at the Komische Oper in Berlin. Other engagements have included Fjodor in Boris Gonunov at the Semperoper in Dresden, appearances at the Hamburg State Opera, the Nationaltheater in Mannheim (great success as the Devil in Glanert’s Scherz, Satire, Ironie und tiefere Bedeutung/Jokes, Satire, Irony and Deeper Meaning), the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Opéra National de Paris and the Montreux Festival. He studied at the "Carl Maria von Weber"Academy of Music in Dresden and has been teaching at the Folkwang University in Essen and the Robert Schumann Highschool in Düsseldorf since 2007. He has held masterclasses (Kronenburg Classes) twice yearly since 2010 and recently held a masterclass for the members of Oper Frankfurt’s Opera Studio.
