Burkhard Fritz (Arindal)

Burkhard Fritz
Burkhard Fritz, a member of the ensemble at the Berlin State Opera, is much in demand internationally for youthful Heldentenor roles. In early 2011 he sang Bacchus (Ariadne auf Naxos) at the Munich and Vienna state operas. Later that year he sang Arindal (Die Feen/The Fairies, in concert) in Frankfurt, Lohengrin in Budapest conducted by Adam Fischer and made his debut in Bayreuth, as Stolzing in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg. Future engagements include Hans in a new production of Die verkaufte Braut/The Bartered Bride in Berlin, Beethoven 9 with Daniel Barenboim, Die Meistersinger at Leipzig Opera, Arrigo in I Vespri Siciliani and the title role in Rienzi. He also received wide spread critical acclaim for his Parsifal (at the Berlin and Vienna state operas), Florestan (including performances at the Aalto-Theater Essen), Berlioz’ Faust (in Rotterdam and Amsterdam, conducted by Valerie Gergiev), Benvenuto Cellini (at the Salzburg Festival, recorded on DVD, among other places), Don José in Carmen (highly acclaimed debut in Berlin), Alvaro (La forza del destino), Cavaradossi (Tosca) and Henri in I Vespri Siciliani (Amsterdam & Vienna). He enjoyed great success as Paul in Die tote Stadt/The Dead City at the Teatro Real in Madrid.
