Katie van Kooten
Soprano
Katie Van Kooten sang Antonia alongside Rolando Villazón at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, conducted by Antonio Pappano. This American soprano graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and studied with Rudolf Piernay. She appeared at Oper Frankfurt for the first time in 2010/11, singing Vitellia in La clemenza di Tito. Other recent house debuts were made at the Metropolitan Opera in New York (Magda in La Rondine), the Lyric Opera of Kansas City (Countess Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro) and the Houston Grand Opera (Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream). Engagements during the 2011/12 season include Elisabetta in Maria Stuarda with Joyce DiDonato at the Houston Grand Opera, Liù in Turandot at the New Orleans Opera, Donna Anna at the National Theatre in Prague and Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra.
