Elizabeth Reiter
Elizabeth Reiter, born in Chicago, joined the Opera Studio at Oper Frankfurt in 2011/12. Roles in the main house last season included Annina in La Traviata, Papagena in Die Zauberflöte and Ortlinde in Die Walküre. During our 2012/13 season she will sing Helmwige for the first time (Die Walküre), Oscar (Ein Maskenball/Un ballo in maschera) and the 2nd Woman in Dido and Aeneas. This soprano, who studied at the Manhattan School of Music and Curtis Institute of Music with Marlena Malas, has enjoyed success at several compeitions, most recently at the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions (Philadelphia District Winner 2010) and Liederkranz Vocal Competition (1st Prize in the Lieder/Art Song category 2011). Her repertoire includes classics and contemporary music, including Philipp Glass’ Galileo Galilei. Other engagements have included Zerlina conducted by James Levine at the Tanglewood Music Center in 2009 and La libellule in Ravel’s L’Enfant et les Sortilèges conducted by Lorin Maazel at the 2011 Castleton Festival. In 2012 she sang Adele (Die Fledermaus) at Memphis Opera and Blonde (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) at the Opera Company of Philadelphia. She makes her debut at the Chicago Opera Theatre in September 2012 – as Pamina.
