Christophe Mortagne
Christophe Mortagne made his debut in Germany in 2011/12 with King Ouf I. A former member of the ensemble at the Comédie Française and award winner for many of his roles, including Pelléas, this versatile, free-lance actor and singer works at leading theatres and opera companies throughout the world. He has appeared in productions directed by David Pountney and Peter Stein, amongst others, and among the conductors with who he has worked are Antonio Pappano and Kirill Petrenko. Recent highlights have included Laërte in Mignon at the Opéra Comique in Paris and Guillot de Morfontaine in Manon at Hong Kong Opera, in Nice, alongside Anna Netrebko at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, on tour in Japan, at the Metropolitan Opera New York and La Scala Milan. Other roles in his repertoire include Monsieur Triquet (Eugen Onegin), Bomelius (Die Zarenbraut/The Tsar’s Bride), Goro (Madame Butterfly), Tinca (Il tabarro), Scaramuccio (Ariadne auf Naxos), Spoletta (Tosca, including a live broadcast from the Festival Chorégies d’Orange) and some Offenbach roles, including Le Brésilien, Frick, Prosper (La Vie Parisienne, in a Laurent Pelly production – available on DVD) and the four servants and Spalanzani in Les Contes d'Hoffmann/The Tales of Hoffmann.
