Gregory Frank’s repertoire includes many roles by Wagner – and he has sung all the bass roles in the Ring. Following on from recent appearances as Fafner and Hunding in Enschede (2009-2011) and Fafner at Opera North in Leeds (2011) he returned to Frankfurt in 2012 for the new Ring, where he was a member of the ensemble from 2002–2009. His many roles for the company included King Marke in Tristan und Isolde, Heinrich der Vogler in Lohengrin, Osmin in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, The Grand Inquisitor in Don Carlo, Rocco in Fidelio and the title role in Boito’s Mefistofele. He began his career at the Chicago Lyric Opera Center before going on to appear at other opera houses, including the Zurich Opera, the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels, the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Oper Leipzig, the Staatsoper in Hannover, Glyndebourne Touring Opera, Scottish Opera, in Baltimore and Detroit. Recent engagements have included Die Entführung aus dem Serail at the Volksoper in Vienna and Don Carlo at Finnish National Opera. He will be singing Daland in The Flying Dutchman in Boston in April 2013.
