Keith Warner is one of the leading directors of our time. He was Co-Director at English National Opera in London, Scottish Opera and Artistic Director of Opera Omaha in Nebraska. He has directed more than 100 operas, musicals and plays all over the world. Highlights to date have included John Casken's God’s Liar (world premiere) in London and Golem (US premiere), Lohengrin in Bayreuth, The Turn of the Screw in Brussels and Ring productions in Tokyo and London (Covent Garden). His most recent productions were Tannhäuser in Strassbourg, Mathis der Maler in Vienna, Andrea Chénier in Bregenz, the world premiere of André Tchaikovsky's Der Kaufmann von Venedig/The Merchant of Venice, Parsifal in Copenhagen, Penderecki's Die Teufel von Loudun/The Devil from Loudun in Warsaw and Chausson's Le Roi Arthus/King Arthur at the Théâtre Municipal in Strassbourg. Projects in 2015 include Richard Ayres’ Peter Pan at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff (conducted by Erik Nielsen).
He has directed many highly successful productions at Oper Frankfurt over the last decade, including Rossini's Cenerentola (revival opens April 11th 2015!), a double bill of Dallapiccola's Volo di notte and Il prigioniero, Bloch's Macbeth, Britten's Death in Venice and, more recently, Thomas Adès' The Tempest (first ever performances in Germany), Reimann's Lear and Pizzetti's Murder in the Cathedral (revival opens April 18th 2015!). Now he is back for this new production of Hänsel und Gretel. Keith Warner won an Olivier Award for his 2003 production of Wozzeck at Covent Garden.
