Aleksandra Kurzak, who comes from a musical family, made her operatic debut at the age of 21 in Wroclaw (Breslau) where she sang Susanna in performances when her Countess was performed by her mother. After studying in Hamburg the young Polish soprano was a member of the ensemble there from 2001-2007. She made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York in 2004 and is in great demand the world over for roles such as Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Gilda (Rigoletto), Blonde (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Ännchen (Der Freischütz), Fiordiligi (Cosi fan tutte) and Lucia di Lammermoor. There is hardly one important opera house missing from her diary. Her programme, "The Nightingale and the Rose" will include works by Schubert, Brahms, Berg, Grieg, Strauss, Tschaikowski, Rimski-Korsakow, Zelenski, Niewiadomski, among others.
