Christiane Karg has been a member of the ensemble at Oper Frankfurt since 2008, since when she has thrilled audiences here with many roles including Calisto, Susanna, Pamina, Musetta and Zdenka. Lieder singing also plays an important part in her life and she has given rectials in the Musikverein in Vienna, the Schubertiade in Schwarzenberg, Mozarteum in Salzburg, Philharmonie in Essen, Wigmore Hall in London and at the Rheingau Music Festival. This season this young soprano – who was voted »Up and Coming Singer of the Year« a few seasons ago and was awarded a Echo Classic Prize for her first Lieder recording – is now giving her first recital in her home house, accompanied by Gerold Huber. Her new recital programme is titled »Female Characters«: compositions about women who also have an »operatic« life – including Gretel, Mignon and Ophelia, and Lieder by French composers.
