Kateryna Kasper made a very successful debut at Oper Frankfurt as the Voice of the Forest Bird in the new production of Siegfried, returning in 2012 to sing Bellangère in a revival of Ariane et Barbe-Bleue. She joins the Opera Studio at Oper Frankfurt this season, during which she will sing three new roles: Anima (the Soul) in a new production of Cavalieri’s Das Spiel von Seele und Körper/The Game between Body and Soul, Barbarina in Die Hochzeit des Figaro/Le nozze di Figaro and Belinda in Dido and Aeneas as well as the Forest Bird again in a revival of Siegfried. This Ukrainian soprano began studying in Frankfurt with Hedwig Fassbender after she graduated in 2010 in Nürnberg, where she studied with Edith Wiens. Masterclasses in which she has taken part include those held by Eytan Pessen, Kai Wessel, Malcolm Martineau and Rudolf Piernay. Kateryna Kasper was a finalist at the renowned Queen Sonja International Music Competition in Oslo in 2011, where she also won the prize for the best performance of Norwegian music. In 2010, she enjoyed success at the the International Vocal Competition ’s-Hertogenbosch (IVC) in Holland, where she was awarded North Brabant's prize for a young talented artist under the age of 25. The Trude Eipperle Rieger Lieder prize followed in 2012. Places where she has appeared in concert include the Handel Festival in Karlsruhe and the Bachwoche in Stuttgart.
