The renowned tenor Kurt Streit has built up a broad and varied repertoire during the course of his career. This includes the title roles in Mozart’s Idomeneo, Lucio Silla and La clemenza di Tito as well as roles by Monteverdi, Handel, Haydn, Wagner, Berlioz, Tchaikovsky and Britten. New roles in recent seasons were the title role in The Tales of Hoffmann and Albrecht von Brandenburg in Mathis der Maler (Theater an der Wien), Albert Gregor in The Makropoulos Case (Metropolitan Opera New York) and Anatol in Vanessa (which opened the 2012/13 season at Oper Frankfurt). Future engagements include Lazarus (Schubert) and Julietta (Martinů). Other roles in Frankfurt were Tito in 2005/06 and the title role in Pfitzner’s Palestrina in 2008/09. His discography includes recordings of Così fan tutte under Daniel Barenboim and Sir Simon Rattle, Die Zauberflöte, Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Cherubini’s Mass in d minor under Riccardo Muti and Franz Schmidt’s Das Buch mit sieben Siegeln/The Book with the Seven Seals under Nikolaus Harnoncourt. His recording of Bach Cantatas and Brahms’ Love Songs-Waltzes was nominated for a Grammy.
