During Oper Frankfurt's 2014/15 season Eun Sun Kim conducts the new production of Bellini's La sonnambula, concert performances of Kálmán's Die Csárdásfürstin (both works being performed in Frankfurt for the first time) and some performances of La Bohème, the opera she made her debut with at the company in 2012. After conducting Tosca at the Macerata Festival in the summer of 2014 she made her debut at English National Opera in London, with Die Fledermaus and conducted La Traviata at the Volksoper in Vienna and Opéra Marseille. She has also led works at the Auditorio Nacional Madrid das Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid, Il viaggio a Reims at the Teatro Real Madrid, La Bohème at Graz Opera and Carmen at the Volksoper in Vienna. Eun Sun Kim has also appeared at the Tongyeong International Music Festival in Korea and in given concerts with the Graz, Jena, Stuttgart and Ulm philharmonic orchestras and in Marseille, Palermo and Nancy. Born in South Korea, she studied composition and conducting in Seoul before continuing her studies in Stuttgart. She won first prize at the Jesús López Cobos International Opera Conducting competition and worked as assistant conductor at the Teatro Real in Madrid from 2008 - 2010. Places where she conducts for the first time next season include the Staatsoper in Berlin, the Kungliga Operan in Stockholm and Semperoper in Dresden.
