David Bösch

David Bösch is back in Frankfurt where he enjoyed great success with Humperdinck's Königskinder (2012/13) and Orlando furioso (2009/10 – one of the very first operas he directed). Last season he directed Schreker's Die Gezeichneten in Lyon and future projects include Alcina at the Grand Théâtre in Geneva, Elektra at the Aalto Theater in Essen, Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich and Il trovatore at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London. After studying at the University for Music and Theatre in Zurich he took up the post of house director at the Schauspiel in Essen in 2005/06, moving in 2010/11 to be leading director in Bochum and again in 2013/14 to the Burgtheater in Vienna, where he directs Werner's Schwab's Die Präsidentinnen and Anton Chekhov' Drei Schwestern/Three Sisters this season. Other theatres where David Bösch has worked have included the Thalia Theater in Hamburg, the Deutsche Theater Berlin and the Myeongdong Theater in Seoul. He won the Salzburg Festival's 2006 Young Directors Award for his production of Viel Lärm um nichts/Much Ado about Nothing.
