John Daszak made his debut at Oper Frankfurt in 2009/10 as Edward Fairfax Vere in Billy Budd - a role he recently sang at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. John Daszak is regarded as one of Britain’s most versatile tenors. Highlights this season are his first Siegfried (Götterdämmerung) in São Paulo, Jimmy (Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny/The Rise and Fall of Mahagonny) at the Komische Oper Berlin, the Male Chorus (The Rape of Lucretia) at the Maggio Musicale di Firenze, the title role in Peter Grimes at the Royal Swedish Opera and Erik (Der fliegende Holländer) and Verdi’s Messa da Requiem with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Engagements in recent seasons have included appearances at English National Opera in London, La Scala Milan, the Vienna State Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, the Berlin Staatsoper Unter den Linden, the Opéra National de Paris, De Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam, the Vlaamse Opera in Ghent/Antwerp and the Glyndebourne and Bregenz festivals. Conductors with whom he has worked in opera and concert include Daniel Barenboim, Kurt Masur, Sir Colin Davis, Sir Mark Elder, Zubin Mehta, Friedemann Layer, Christoph von Dohnanyi, Kent Nagano, Sakari Oramo and Richard Hickox.
