Ilya Silchukov
Ilya Silchukov is making his debut in Frankfurt with these performances of Khovanshchina. This young baritone has been a member of the White Russia State Opera in Minsk, where he was born, since 2005. His roles for the company have included Eugen Onegin, Robert in Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta, Germont in La Traviata, the Speaker in Die Zauberflöte, Korolewitsch in Rimsky-Korsakov’s Kashchey the Immortal and the baritone solo in Orff’s Carmina Burana. He studied at the music academy in White Russia, took part in masterclasses, including one held by Renato Bruson, and participated in the Tremplin Jeunes Chanteurs Programme, run by the Opéra Théâtre d’Avignon, and the Salzburg Festival’s 2011 Young Singers Programme. Guest engagements have included the Notary in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale with the Bayerische Rundfunk’s Symphony Orchestra in Munich, Athanaël in Massenet’s Thaïs at the Pärnu Opera Festival in Estonia and Il barbiere di Siviglia in Rome. Other guest engagements in 2013 include Germont in a new production of La Traviata in Bregenz.
